CODE OF ETHICS

    

    

      The Club refers to Sheltie-Singapore, the unofficial Shetland Sheepdog Club of Singapore. 

      Members are to observed the Code of Ethics of the Club at all times. 

      Members shall conduct themselves and will not discriminate or use any form of abusive language to other members of the Club. 

      Members shall, at all times, ensure that all dogs under the member’s control are properly housed, fed, watered, exercised n received proper veterinary attentions, as and when required.  Cruelties to all dogs shall not be permitted. 

      Members, who are breeders, shall strive to eliminate hereditary diseases and shall breed only with the intend of maintaining and/or improving the Standard of the breed and not into making profits out of breeding, or any breeding for commercial purposes, and shall at all times, ensure the care / health of the stud dog, brood bitch and the puppies. 

      Members shall not permit any pure bred dogs to be mated to a dog of different breed or a cross-bred dog, or any other dogs that are in poor health. 

      A bitch shall not be bred from unless it has reached adequate maturity (No matings on the first heat cycle under any circumstances) and must be in good health at the time of mating.  No more than two consecutive breeding is allowed, the bitch should be allowed to rest for at least one heat cycle. 

      Undersized bitches are not to be bred from.  Members are required to find out, read up, and do sufficient researches on breeding, and all prospects on breeding must be clearly understood before attempting breeding their bitches. 

      Stud dogs owners are to ensure that their dogs are of perfect health and are not carrying any form of genetic faults / problems to the best of their knowledge before offering studs to other members. 

      Members shall not sell or otherwise transfer any puppy under 8 weeks of age to a new home, thus allowing for the first vaccination that must be given at 6 weeks of age, and for the necessary 2 weeks for the vaccines to take effect.  It is the Breeders’ responsibilities to insist a second vaccination from the new owners to whom the puppies are sold / transferred to, and shall provide them with every true facts about the puppies / dogs to the best of their knowledge. 

      Members shall ensure that all persons acquiring the puppies / dogs from them clearly understood their responsibility for the care and welfare of the puppies /  dogs and have the time and facilities (sufficient housing etc) to perform their obligations. 

      Members shall not sell any puppy / dog to any commercial dealer, pet shop, or pet farm etc. 

      No puppies / dogs are to be sold in the state of ill health.
